Inanimate things that I Love and Hate

These lists are in no particular order.

Love:

  1. Paper--all kinds of paper. Paper that has things written on it, old paper, new paper, ESPECIALLY homemade paper. Fresh notebooks excite me, the things that could fill them. Sometimes, however, I am too picky about what I want in them because they are so special that they never get filled. Still though, I love paper and journals and everything that has to do with paper. The limitless possibilities of paper, I think, are what make it so intriguing. Obviously books are included here too.

  2. Pens that write well and feel like they are glossing on the paper. Perhaps I like these pens because I feel they are worthy to write on the paper I love so much :-)

  3. Fabric with awesome designs that is beautiful enough it can be hung by itself without being sewn into anything else.

  4. My microwave rice steamer--it has made college a little bit easier.

  5. Bookstores--I can spend hours in a bookstore just looking at all the books, wanting to buy everything. Bookstores are the only stores I never get bored in. I believe this stems from my love of all things paper.

  6. Really old furniture--I like that it has history, was probably built by a person instead of a machine, and shows a bit of the life it has experienced around it. Chairs, bookshelves/cabinets, and desks are my favorites

  7. Compartments--anything that opens and closes and can hide tiny objects is amazing to me. If it has a latch, it's that much better. If it can lock with a skeleton key, I might be in heaven.

  8. Secret doorways, passageways, and trapdoors. When I get to build my dream house, a secret passage will be a complete necessity. Exploring the unknown and the element of surprise is undoubtedly crucial to a life that is not boring.

  9. Scrapbooks--I love putting them together and looking at other peoples'. Looking at memories and piecing them together picture by picture and putting your own personal touch on how these memories are presented to others and to yourself in the future makes me a bit nostalgic.

  10. Big comfy beds. There is nothing quite like climbing into a warm bed with the sheets tucked in on the sides and super comfy pillows under your head. Whether this bed be at home or far from home, the prospect of a good night's sleep and being refreshed for the next day is wonderful. In addition, a big bed like this makes me feel small, like a kid again and I can hunker down and snuggle and feel safe with all the space of bed around me.

Hate

  1. Bagel slicers--they just never work right

  2. Cigarettes--they are stinky and expensive

  3. Xbox--irresponsible people become even more irresponsible by wasting their life in front of these things

  4. Sporks--you can't really get anything on the tips because it is so short and the spoon part is less than adequate for anything you need to scoop because it is so much smaller than a normal spoon.

  5. One-ply toilet paper--I mean really, what's the point? You just have to use three times as much so really it's a waste. Plus it's scratchy and that's no fun.
